    My name is Nur, it means Divine light !
    I was born and raised in a Damascene family of 5 members. I am the eldest. I grew up in a traditional life style that believes in humanity and everything else would follow. I was taught to be respectful, eager to learn and passionate about what I do.

    But and because of the brutal war that destroyed every precious moment and monument in my beloved Syria I had to leave and to continue living to be able to build the rest of my future.
    Its difficult but not impossible, I am studying Luxembourgish , get the nationality, have my own business and go further more with my studies and learning more about this mysterious country.

    What studies did you do and what is your main activity?

    I studied business management and languages. I am looking to have a similar degree that allows me to continue where I was forced to stop.

    How long have you been in Luxembourg?

    Around two years. In 2015.

    Which reason took you to Luxembourg?

    War and then future.

    Tell us few things that have surprised you when first arrived?

    I was surprised by the safety, then by how organized everything is ….I had forgotten that after the chaos I lived in for few years.

    Can you give me 3 adjectives to describe your life in the Grand Duchy?

    Overwhelming, Challenging, Different.

    What aspect of Luxembourg would you miss if you had to leave tomorrow?

    Prestige and safety.

    Tell us what is your preferred district in Luxembourg and why?

    Remich, I love the Mosel Valley and I enjoy its calmness and nice people.

    Do you go often out to eat and if yes what is your favourite type of cuisine?

    Not quite often as I enjoy cooking, but I like Indian cuisine.

    Can you give me one word in your language which is impossible to translate into other languages?

    « Tahara« , it means purity of the body and soul from everything that could make it filthy.

    For which reason have you decided to join the JUST ARRIVED Ambassadors club?

    It’s a wonderful platform and community that allows me to present my country and culture within a professional nice group.
