Hello everyone !!
My name is Julienne and I was born in the Ivory Coast and grew up in Ouagadougou, the Capital city of Burkina Faso then I moved to Belgium. Since graduating I have worked in Burkina Faso, in Belgium and in Luxembourg.
What studies did you do and what is your main activity?
I studied IT in Burkina Faso, Management Science, Economic and Social Policy in Belgium and have worked for 10 years in Project Management in Luxembourg.
Now completing a dissertation on Microfinance, a link between Luxembourg and Burkina Faso. ?
I’m also a member of the “Advisory committee on communal integration” in my commune, this committee is in charge of the interaction between all the residents in the town, which includes welcoming and helping integrate newcomers.
How long have you been in Luxembourg?
I have been living in Luxembourg for almost 9 years, time flies.
Which reason took you to Luxembourg?
When I started working in Luxembourg I was living in Belgium. I later met my future husband who was living in Luxembourg.
Tell us few things that have surprised you when first arrived?
I was really surprised by the efficiency of the administrative services and the public transport system, also I was pleasantly surprised by the multi-cultural multi-lingual aspect of the country.
Can you give me 3 adjectives to describe your life in the Grand Duchy?
Easy, busy, healthy.
What aspect of Luxembourg would you miss if you had to leave tomorrow?
Definitely the multi-cultural environment.
Tell us what is your preferred district in Luxembourg and why?
I like the enormous variety found within the geographically small city of Luxembourg.
My preferred region is the Moselle for its natural beauty. I’m still discovering the beauty of the country through hiking.
Can you give me one word in your language which is impossible to translate into other languages?
“Ney waoongo”, which is used to welcome a stranger, whether he/she is staying for a few moments or forever.
