Gretel Sardinäs Diaz

Gretel, you come from Cuba. How long have you been in Luxembourg?

I arrived in March 2001, just in time to experience the change from Luxembourg Francs to Euros.

What reasons took you to Luxembourg?

A very common answer: my husband got a good job offer here.

What studies did you do and what is your main activity?

I studied foreign languages (English and Italian) and Theater and Media Production. Now I’m a freelance photographer and a full time mother.

Can you give me 3 adjectives to describe your life in Luxembourg?

    Hectic, full and artsy.

What aspect of Luxembourg would you miss if you had to leave tomorrow?

I can get everywhere in 10 minutes!

What is your favourite district in Luxemburg?

They are so many I can’t choose just one, I love Kirchberg because is like seeing a toddler growing, Clausen because it’s so pictoresque and Limperstberg because of the dreamy antique houses you see.

Can you give me an exemple of a word in your mother tongue that is difficult to translate in another language?

I can’t think of just a word, but several words that have different meanings in different contexts and depending on the intonation too.

I love talking about my countries : the native one Cuba and also Luxembourg, the one that has kindly adopted me all these years. And if this information can help someone it is really satisfactory.
