I was born in Italy and always lived there until the age of 34. In 2011 I came and worked for a year in Luxembourg and I immediately felt in love with this country.
So, after the birth of my little son, my husband and I, realized that we would have more chances (for us but most of all our children) in a foreign country. We were tired to live in Italy and we decided to move. It was not an easy decision. We were frightened by the change, but now we are very happy to live in Luxembourg. We think that the Grand-Duchy is the right place for us to live.
What studies did you do and what is your main activity?
I studied contemporary art restoration at the fine art academy of Brera in Milan. When I was in Italy, I always practiced as photographic restorer and, as from 2010, I am also an event photographer. These are my two main activities also here in Luxembourg.
How long have you been living in Luxembourg?
I arrived here in Luxembourg in the summer of 2015.
Which reason took you to Luxembourg?
My husband got a job offer in Luxembourg. Subsequently my son and I followed him.
Tell us few things that have surprised you when first arrived?
Within expats people, their kindness and the facility when you’ve just arrived to interact with them. Most of the people are very happy to help each other. I was also surprised by the capability of people (from children to old people) to speak in different languages without any difficulty. In Italy this happens very rarely…
Instead, one of the things sometimes difficult to understand here is the lack of flexibility.
Can you give me 3 adjectives to describe your life in the Grand Duchy?
Friendly, professionally satisfying ,free.
What aspect of Luxembourg would you miss if you had to leave tomorrow?
Of course I would miss all the wonderful friends I met here. I also would miss the diversity of these country, the possibility to be always in contact with different nationalities and cultures and to enrich my cultural background.
Tell us what is your preferred district in Luxembourg and why?
I don’t know yet… I am still new here and I need to discover more.
Do you go often out to eat and if yes what is your favourite type of cuisine?
Usually I prefer to stay at home and to invite my friends to my place. But when I go out I usually go to Ambrosia’s, a very good Greek restaurant in the center.
Can you give me one word in your language which is impossible to translate into other languages?
“Magari” a word that expresses hope, possibility or a strong desire.
For which reason have you decided to join the JUST ARRIVED Ambassadors club?
To interact and to meet other people with whom I like to share thoughts and experiences. To be useful for other people who have just arrived and may need some help.
