Carla Ammendola

"Bienvenidos a Luxemburgo"

Carla Ammendola was born in Mexico City and moved to Luxembourg in 2015. She grew up in a multicultural environment. She has lived in Italy, United Kingdom, France and Mexico.

What studies did you do and what is your main activity?

I have a bachelor in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and a Masters in Brand Management. I speak four languages: Italian, English, French and Spanish. I work as destination consultant for an international company. Basically I help expats settling down in Luxembourg. Additionally I am an independent Brand manager consultant.

How long have you been in Luxembourg?

I live in Luxembourg since August 2015.

Which reason took you to Luxembourg?

My lovely husband, who is French, had a nice offer to work in Luxembourg.

Tell us few things that have surprised you when first arrived in Luxembourg?

The historic fortifications and the old quarter of Luxembourg-Ville.

Can you give me 3 adjectives to describe your life in the Grand Duchy?

    Pleasant, beautiful, exciting.

What aspect of Luxembourg would you miss if you had to leave tomorrow?

The geographic location and the cosmopolitan environment.

Tell us what is your preferred district in Luxembourg and why?

The city-centre and my favourite district is Pfaffenthal … I love the beautiful view from the lift.

Do you go often out to eat and if yes what is your favourite type of cuisine?

I like to discover the Luxembourgish cuisine.

Can you give me one word in your language which is impossible to translate into other languages?

The word “friolento” has no English translation, someone who is sensitive to the cold weather.

For which reason have you decided to join the JUST ARRIVED Ambassadors club?

We have moved countries 4 times in the last 10 years. Moving to a new country has always pros and cons. But I can say that I have more positive experiences than negative ones, which I would like to share with newcomers in Luxembourg.
