Joanna, you come from Poland. How long have you been in Luxembourg?
I’ve been living in Luxembourg since 2010.
Which reason took you to Luxembourg?
I came to Luxembourg for personal reasons.
What studies did you do and what is your main activity?
I studied cultural history, Russian and literature. Currently, I am in a professional development transition into the exciting field of Cybersecurity.
Can you give me 3 adjectives to describe your life in the Grand Duchy?
Active, significant and creative.
What aspect of Luxembourg would you miss if you had to leave tomorrow?
I would definitely miss its cultural diversity and all the great people I’ve met here.
Tell us what is your preferred district in Luxembourg and why?
Luxembourg City centre with its historical buildings and breathtaking views.
Can you give me one word in your language which is impossible to translate into other languages?
It is hard for me to find such a word in my mind spontaneously. Perhaps it’s because there are so many other languages around me, that everything seems to have an easy intuitive explanation.
There is this word I like very much but it’s quite “old school”. Nobody uses it any more. “Pieknoduch” consists of two words “piekno” (beauty) and “duch” (spirit). It describes a person who is a little bit detached from reality and measures everything with high aesthetic standards.
For which reason have you decided to join the JUST ARRIVED Ambassadors club?
I wanted to write blog articles about my experiences as an expat here in Luxembourg. I remember talking about my idea with a friend of mine and she told me about the JUST ARRIVED initiative and I thought: “Yes. That’s it! I want to join them!” And I did!
